In their earlier iterations, toilet bowls were often attached or part of the bottom body and are not fully mounted or attached to the wall. In later models however, the bowl is ingrained into the body that is fully attached to the wall.

The modern approach gives the toilet a more contemporary aesthetic along with lower maintenance woes. The shape of the unit could conceivably be round, square, oval or irregular. The smoother the ceramic surface, the better – this can potentially add a much more sophisticated vibe for the whole room.

The best toilet bowl size and shape for each person vary based on personal needs, preferences, and the size of the bathroom. To determine which toilet suite style is right for you, keep the following considerations in mind:

• Comfort: Most adults feel an elongated-style toilet bowl is more comfortable to sit on than a compact-size toilet bowl due to the longer seat supporting more of the thigh and because there is a larger opening, making it easier to clean and maintain.
• Best for Small Bathrooms: Compact-size toilet bowls are usually best for smaller bathrooms, because they typically occupy two inches less floor space than standard toilets. This is particularly true for those who rely on a walker or wheelchair to move around inside a small bathroom — every inch counts!
• Happy Compromise: If you prefer an elongated toilet bowl, but have limited space in your bathroom, a hybrid toilet is newly available on the market called a compact-elongated toilet. It is has an elongated toilet bowl, yet occupies the same footprint (floor space) as a compact toilet. There’s a toilet suite for every situation.

Choose the Right Piping Configuration

For your toilet suite, the water inlet and outlet could be set up entirely based on the existing plumbing in your current or planned bathroom, typically it could be:

Water Inlet

Bottom: Water inlet pipe gets into back of toilet bottom body and connected to the bottom of cistern.

Side: Water inlet pipe goes into toilet bottom body from either lift or right side and connected to the bottom of cistern

Top rear: Water inlet pipe gets into cistern from the rear top of the cistern.

Water outlet

P-pan: Toilet suite ceramic pipe is connected to the sewage pipe in the wall.

S-pan: Toilet suite ceramic pipe is connected to the sewage pipe on the floor.

P-pan toilet pipe is typically 180cm off the floor while S-pan toilet pipes can be connected directly to a sewage pipe in a select range based on proximity with the wall, typically 100-250cm.

Choose the Right Flushing System For Your Toilet Suite

According to data and research conducted on the subject, it’s approximated that standard toilet flushing consumes between 25 and 35% of the total used water for a household.

Traditionally there are four flushing models:

• Gravity flush
• Pressure assistant
• Vacuum assistant
• Dual flush

Most modern toilet suits use a dual-flush system. There are advancements made consistently with particular focus on increasing efficiency, reducing water usage as well as decreasing other factors such as noise.
