Product Range

At Galaxy Homeware, our range of vanity sinks gives you a variety of styles and materials to choose from. In terms of style, our range includes classic, modern and rustic models. Our range of single and double vanities can also be classified by the material used in their construction - MDF, plywood, or solid wood. Selecting any type of floor standing vanity or wall hung vanity unit from our range will largely depend on the layout of your bathroom and how you plan to use it. No matter what your needs are, we have a vanity basin perfectly suited to your budget and aesthetic considerations.

MDF vs. Plywood

We don’t supply products made with PVC or particleboard as they are too low-quality to meet the needs of our customers. Most bathroom vanity units in New Zealand will be made from either MDF or plywood. MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard) is made from wood fibres that result from the breaking down of solid wood residuals. Plywood is thin sheets of marine timber that are veneer glued together. MDF products are generally cheaper but rely on a protective layer (lamination or lacquering) for moisture resistance. Plywood is more expensive but does not rely on a protective coating to be waterproof. Plywood bathroom vanity units have a much longer life span than the MDF variety and are often used in our latest models.

Style & Setup

We offer classical designs such as Riva, Thalassa and Naida on top of contemporary ones such as Faust and Harmonia. It’s up to you which style you want to go with. You also have a choice between a floor standing vanity unit, or a wall hung vanity unit, and the appropriate option will largely depend on your bathroom layout and piping. The wall hung option is suited for bathrooms with limited space and helps to make the room appear bigger. Alternatively, the floor standing variety is best suited to bigger bathrooms or when the outlet pipe for the sink extends from the floor. Floor standing is a little more expensive than wall hung, but also has more storage space. Our double vanities are only available in sizes of 1200MM or more. The standard size of small vanities is between 450MM and 600MM. The medium sizes range from 600MM, 750MM, 900MM and 1200MM, while the largest go up to 1800MM. Our bathroom vanities in Auckland also come in nonstandard widths such as 800MM and 1000MM to suit different customer needs. Our colour options include white, light oak and black.
